NEED A BREAK? HERE'S HOW TO HAVE A SYDNEY STAYCATION - ARTICLE

Need a holiday but don’t have anywhere near enough time to escape? A quick staycation could be just what the doctor ordered. Here’s what a refreshing break in Sydney could look like for you…

STAY

There’s nothing quite like water views to plunge you straight into a relaxed state of mind and Sydney is all about its gorgeous harbour. There are limited hotels in the city which sit directly on the harbour and few have a better position than Pier One.

Right under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, this stunning five star hotel is now managed by the Marriott and its standard of service and quality has increased significantly. For a really luxe break book a King Balcony Suite where you’ll be able to enjoy a soothing bath while watching the ferries and yachts cruise passed. Pier One is also one of Sydney’s only dog friendly hotels so your little fury friend can enjoy a break too.

EAT

If you want a truly iconic Sydney lunch there are many restaurants which have become institutions in the city like Café Sydney in the CBD, Otto on Woolloomooloo wharf, Catalina in Rose Bay or Icebergs in Bondi. You will not go wrong at any of these places and they all enjoy beautiful views. For dinner there’s a plethora of amazing upscale places with all of Australia’s top chefs setting up residence in and around the city, but Chiswick in Woollahra is definitely one to put on your list.

This stunning restaurant is the creation of celebrity chef Matt Moran and it has a cool, sophisticated feel without being too stuffy. There’s a strong focus on fresh produce with a lot of ingredients sourced from the restaurant’s garden and a changing menu to reflect the season. You’ll love the food and atmosphere at Chiswick and if you’re lucky enough to be there when the Bombe Alaska is on the menu… order it!

DO

There are so many amazing activities to enjoy while in Sydney from taking a boat out on the harbour for a day to taking a sea plane up to Jonah’s Restaurant for lunch, but one experience which is an absolute must is the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb.

In its 17th year of operation this informative and exhilarating walk takes you to the very top of the Bridge which has captured the world’s attention ever since it was opened in 1932. The views from the top are spectacular and don’t worry if you are scared of heights it really won’t be a problem. The tour guides are well trained to guide you through any fears and you’ll feel completely safe the entire way.

RELAX

No holiday is complete without a trip to a day spa to indulge in your favourite treatment and on a staycation it can really help speed up the unwinding process. There are many beautiful spas in Sydney, but the recently refurbished The Darling at Star City Casino is well worth a try.

The Darling Hotel recently completed its multi-million dollar refurb and you can tell by the quality fittings and feel of the new Spa. If you really want to leave relaxed try the 90 minute hot stone massage and ask for Chitimon… she is amazing.
